This is not a joke

Question:  How many feminists does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer:  That's not funny.

Wish I'd Said it.

The first premise of Western democracy, that the rights of the weakest and most despised citizens are sacred, stems from the Judeo-Christian notion of divine humility. The creator of the universe suffers along with his creatures, and bears a special love for the weak and helpless, a belief that appears absurd in Islam. Islam has no inherent concept of humility.

Spengler at Asia Times.

Explains a lot.

This makes me laugh

http://inshallahshaheed.muslimpad.com/2007/11/12/fatwa-on-the-conditions-for-joking-to-be-permissible/

If you can follow that link, you will find a "fatwah" about what is permissible humor. BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA

There are nine humor rules:

1 – It not should not involve any element of making fun of Islam.

Well of course not.  What's funny about a religion that regulates humor?

2 – The jokes should only be truthful.

3 – Not scaring people

Blowing them up, fine.  Chopping their heads off, stoning them to death, hunky dorey.  BUT NO SCAREY JOKES!

4 – Mocking people by winking behind their backs or making snide remarks

Can you believe this idiot wrote that?

5 – The jokes should not be excessive.

Again, a little mass murder, a few chopped heads, no problem.  But no going overboard on the humor, damn it!

6 – Acknowledging people’s status

So, no making fun of wise Islamic imams who make fatwahs about humor.  Gee, who do you suppose came up with this one?

7 – The amount of joking should be like the amount of salt in one’s food.

Whatever the hell does that mean?

8 – It should not involve backbiting.

Yada yada yada.  What a dolt.

9 – Choosing appropriate times for joking.

As Ecclesiastes says, "For everything there is a time, a purpose under heaven.  A time to slice off your daughter's labia, a time to kill her for staining your honor.  A time to light the bomb in your shoe, a time to wipse your butt with the New Testament.  A time to fire rockets indiscriminately into civilian areas of Israel," etc etc.

God Bless America.

So ...

Global Warming

Apparently there was a hoax global warming study out there -- I just heard about it -- that said there were some bacteria that emit 300 times the CO2 that human activity does.  But it was  a hoax, perpetrated by an environmentalist writer.  I suppose the point was to get a bunch of anti Global Warming people to cite it and say "Ha!"  A few did, but every one I looked at has since retracted and acknowleged the hoax.

Interesting thing is, the fact that some people fell for the hoax seems to be getting even more press ("blog?") than the  hoax ever did.  Do you suppose the hoax was a plant to make opponents of Global Warming look bad?  I guess the scientific  thinking involved here  is something like, "because the people who don't believe in Global Warming fell for a hoax that  supposedly proved their point, therefore Global Warming is True."

Yeah, I follow that.

Antiwar Democrats

I really do not get it.   Pelosi wants to cut funding to the military in Iraq and bring the troops home now that they are making real, measurable progress.  It seems -- honestly -- that the antiwar left simply cannot stomach the prospect of "victory," whatever that means when you're not trying to conquer a country.  They seem to me to want nothing more than to scuttle victory -- here, I suppose, freedom and security for Iraqi citizens to govern themselves -- just to take away the brass ring from the Republicans.  Is it really more important to them to deny victory to the right than it is to see Iraqis live freely and safely, than to allow the men and women of our military to win and enjoy the fact of it, than to crush Al Queda and its theocratic, fascist murderers?

If true, that's really sad.

Bush Visits Wounded Soldiers

Saw some pictures over at a British news website of Bush talking to some badly wounded soldiers.  Some were burned and scarred so badly it was hard to look at.  One guy had lost both legs.  Another lost one.  Bush smiled genuinely to each of them and shook their hands, and one of the burned guys was shown talking deeply with Bush about something, their faces just inches apart.

I thought Bush looked like a genuinely compassionate leader, and the soldiers like men who were proud to be seen with him and proud of their work and their mission.  I said that in a comment.  It was never accepted on the website.  Oddly, all of the British viewers comments were along the lines, "how terrible for Bush who is responsible for these mens' injuries to be seen with them."  That sort of thing.  But the photos belied these sentiments.  A few US viewers got comments in, along the lines, "Freedom isn't free.  God bless these men."  I suppose the British editors let those get by to show how jingoistic and stupid, that is, reilgious, Americans are.

Ah well.

Kucinich/Paul 2008!

So this is a photo taken by Michael Yon, an independent journalist you can find on the web, a day or so ago in Baghdad.  What's going on here?  Well, turns out some Muslims are helping the Christians put a cross back on top of their church.  They rang bells afterward to celebrate.  Ringing bells is forbidden in Islamic countries ruled by Sharia law.
So therefore Nancy Pelosi today announced that the Senate Democrats will cut funding to US troops in Iraq and demand they come home real soon or she'll have some more skin removed from her forehead and HER EYES WILL NEVER CLOSE, DAMMIT!  Take that, Bush, you lying fake-surge war losing oil sucker.  Ha!

Obviously as you can see in the photo above, none of this is working and we have to bug out of Iraq now, or else the terrorists will lose!  I mean, win!

In the meantime I'm holding out for a Kucinich/Paul Ticket for 2008.  I figure our government's already out of it's fracking mind, so why not just make it official and put two loons in charge.  Kucinich/Paul!  The only ticket backed by the American Association of Antipsychotic Drug Manufacturers!
